Paul Francis Kossoff was, without doubt, one of the finest guitarists ever. Finding fame with the UK Rock/Blues group 'Free' his ability was always overshadowed by his drug abuse. When Free called it a day, Kossoff recorded his first solo effort entitled 'Back Street Crawler' with the help of the likes of his colleagues from Free, John Martyn, Rabbit and Alan White.
Kossoff later formed a band which he maned after this solo album and Back Street Crawler (with Paul Kossoff) produced two more studio albums, 'The Band Plays On' and ' Second Street'.
On the 19th March, 1976 at the age of 25, Paul Kossoff died of a heart attack.
A retrospective album 'Koss' was released in 1977.
